Consistency, Persistence and Hard Work
When we first started, I had to show up at the Greenwich market on scheduled days; otherwise, our spot would be given away to somebody else!
Early on, we learnt that you have to stick with what you are doing to make it work. Consistency, persistence, and hard work are crucial in any journey. It is most important to remember these values on those days that you are just about ready to give up.
So, sometimes against my own will, I would get up at 4:30 AM on my day off, pack my bags and run to catch an early train. As a treat to myself for waking up early and doing the ‘right thing,’ I would get myself a coffee and a muffin as soon as I got off the train. There is nothing better than a smell of freshly ground coffee in the morning!
Still half asleep, I would start setting up my table, chatting away with other market traders. On quiet mornings, I wandered around the tiny cobalt lanes of the market, dreaming of the future. I would stare at shop windows, thinking that one day, this could be us.
We climb the mountain, not in giant leaps but one small step at a time.
